Work experience
- Fall 2021-Present: Graduate Student Researcher, UC Santa Cruz Genomics Institute
- Designed, developed, and manufactured open source low cost microscopy hardware (CAD/3D Printing/CNC/PCB) and firmware (Python/OpenCV/Linux/Bash) to support three neuroscience laboratories (Cross-group/Cross-culture Collaboration) studying brain development by capturing 4K images with smallest resolvable feature <1.2um of biological samples >360 times an hour. Cost of components is 20% of industrial equivalent.
- Created novel input scheme for existing microscopes (Novel Interactions/Rapid Prototyping) to allow for automatic capture of vertical image stacks for 3D cell cultures using Stream Deck foot pedal and custom user interface (UI/UX).
- Summer 2020: Software Engineering Intern, BrightSign, LLC
- Maintained backend for SiriusXM application (Node/Vue/Git/Jira) and debugged firmware (J-Link/Serial) on commercial digital signage players.
